Image compressor

Give your images a lighter footprint. Resize, adjust quality, and download.

What it does

Give your images a lighter footprint. Resize, adjust quality, and download.

How to use it

  1. Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP and adjust the maximum width and quality. Images are never enlarged. Processing stays on your device.
  2. WebP supports transparency. JPEG puts transparent areas on white. Animated images become a still image; original metadata is not retained.
  3. Compare the output size before downloading. An already compressed image can get larger. Outputs are limited to 8,192 pixels per side.

Example

Select a 2400-pixel-wide photograph and set a maximum width of 1200 pixels to produce a smaller-dimension image without uploading it.

Methodology

The browser decodes the image, resizes it without upscaling and encodes WebP or JPEG using Canvas.

Limitations

20 MB and 40 megapixel input limits. Compression can increase file size. Animation and original metadata are not retained.

Automation

This tool runs in your browser. No upload API or MCP endpoint is available.
