Text comparison
Find added and removed words or lines, privately in your browser.
What it does
Find added and removed words or lines, privately in your browser.
How to use it
- Paste original and updated text, choose words or lines, then compare. One side may be empty.
- Added text is underlined and removed text is struck through. Ignore whitespace trims lines and collapses spaces for a normalised comparison.
- Up to 20,000 characters per side. Very different texts may need smaller sections to keep processing responsive.
Example
Compare “Hello world” with “Hello there” to see “world” removed and “there” added.
Methodology
The diff library computes a word or line edit sequence with a 500 ms and 4,000-edit bound. React displays text without interpreting HTML.
Limitations
Plain text only; formatting and document files are not compared. Normalised mode changes displayed spacing. This is not a semantic comparison.
Automation
This tool runs in your browser. No upload API or MCP endpoint is available.
