Webcam studio

Test your webcam, check lighting and frame rate, take photos and record video with optional microphone audio — all in one private browser workspace.

YOUR CAMERA, UNDER YOUR CONTROL

Ready for your close-up?

Make a great first impression.

Check your picture, lighting and sound before your next call.

Your camera starts only when you choose.

Start once to reveal permitted devices. Stop devices to change settings. Requests are preferences; check the actual resolution above. The browser may choose a lower mode.

Take a photo

Photos follow Mirror. Guides are excluded. Up to 3840 × 2160.

Record a clip

Capture a quick rehearsal, then play it back before downloading.

Recording requires browser MediaRecorder support.

Your setup, at a glance.

Save a JSON diagnostic report without pictures, sound or device identifiers.

Camera not working?
  • Allow camera access using the browser’s address-bar permission control. Check operating system privacy settings too.
  • Close other apps using the camera, reconnect USB cameras and try HD at 30 FPS.
  • If microphone permission blocks startup, stop and disable the microphone to test video alone.
  • A dark or frozen preview can come from a lens cover, virtual camera or device issue. These scene readings cannot diagnose hardware faults.
  • Use a current browser over HTTPS. Photos and recordings remain in page memory until discarded or the page closes; download anything you want to keep.

What it does

Test your webcam, check lighting and frame rate, take photos and record video with optional microphone audio — all in one private browser workspace.

How to use it

  1. Choose a resolution and frame rate, then Start camera. Permission is requested only when you start; microphone capture is optional.
  2. Inspect actual resolution, observed FPS and scene brightness. Use the mirror and framing grid, take a timed photo or record a rehearsal.
  3. Download PNG/JPEG photos, a video clip or a JSON diagnostic report. Media stays in your browser. Devices stop when the tab is hidden.
  4. Recordings are limited to two minutes / 50 MB. Stop devices before changing cameras or settings. Browser and hardware support vary.

Example

Request Full HD at 30 FPS, start the camera and check the actual delivered resolution. Enable a three-second timer for a PNG photo, or record a short rehearsal with optional audio.

Methodology

getUserMedia captures locally after explicit action. Track settings report delivered resolution and nominal frame rate; video-frame callbacks estimate presented FPS. A 160 × 90 sample once per second estimates weighted RGB brightness and near-black/white pixel percentages. Web Audio estimates microphone RMS in dBFS. MediaRecorder produces local video clips.

Limitations

HTTPS and browser permission are required. Requested modes are preferences, not a supported-resolution certification. FPS and brightness depend on scene and browser conditions; no calibrated hardware quality, bandwidth or sound-pressure score is claimed. Microphone processing may affect levels. Photos follow Mirror; recordings retain the original feed. Maximum requested capture is 3840 × 2160 at 60 FPS; photos fit 3840 × 2160. Clips stop at two minutes and are discarded above 50 MB. One photo and one clip are retained in page memory; encoding can use additional memory. Hidden tabs stop capture. Recording formats and frame callbacks vary by browser.

Automation

This tool runs in your browser. No upload API or MCP endpoint is available.
